Join us on the Gerês’ Roman Road by e-bike tour and ride on the path the Romans built over 2000 years ago and enjoy Nature, History and Culture, all packed in a wonderful scenery.
Geira is the common name of the roman Via XVIII in Gerês. This was the 3rd road built to connect Bracara Augusta (Braga) and Asturica Augusta (Astorga), which also made it known as Via Nova (New Road). Its importance goes back to Octavius Augustus, the 1st roman emperor, after the Iberian Peninsula became the farthest western point of modern civilization.
Learn why Geira was built and how it forever shaped the lives of people living in Gerês mountains.
Cycle for about 20 km and through the Albergaria woods, a bumpy, but worthy ride – these woods keep a few secrets we are happy to share with you.
This tour offers a singular perspective on the Nature and History of this territory.
