Baking Bread – from Field to Plate

Bake your own broa and learn its History. Broa de milho, the local corn bread, is one of the few Portuguese products included in the Ark of Taste by the Slow Food Foundation.

Find out when and how corn arrived to Europe, go inside a granary where the kernels are kept, plunge your hands into the dough, work it and watch it grow until it’s ready for the wood oven. Then, use a selection of localy made toppings for the traditional bola-de-entre-lenha, like herbs, smoked meats and veggetables. After all the work, finally taste it, along with seasonal salads, cheese and, of course, green wine and organiz infusions.

But it’s not over yet! We will guide you to a few view points of Gerês, drive you through majestic forests – one of the European Network of Biogenetic Reserves – and on an ancient roman road along the Vilarinho da Furna lake (where, weather allowing, we can enjoy swimming).
