Crossing Peneda Mountain (Hiking)

Spend a few incredible days hiking the Peneda mountain on this crossing of the westernmost area of Peneda-Gerês National Park, away from the beaten track and tourist crowds.

Hike 2 + 2 days in the Sierra with one day off to restore your muscles, being accompanied by an experienced guide and a second one close by, who will share his knowledge on the area as well as guarantee a safe, relaxed hike.

We designed this 63 km (39 mi) crossing so you could have the chance to learn how the mountain shaped the local culture exploring ancient Summer and Winter villages, as well as other human markings that are prof of a delicate balance between man and nature.

You’ll have the opportunity to visit Sistelo, a cultural landscape classified as national monument with its beautiful terraces spread throughout the slopes.

This is a perfect opportunity to hike ancient shepherds’ and pilgrims’ trails and reach peaks for privileged views over valleys, rivers, reservoirs.

Stage by Stage

You can choose to do this crossing at your own pace. Freely choose 1 or more stages, according to your availability, fitness level and interests. For example: you can choose 4 stages in a row or every other day; 3 Saturdays in a row; a few stages this month and some the next month, or even next year... you decide.

Each stage is a full-day tour on its own, meaning it always includes guides, pick-up and drop-off in Braga or around the area you will be hiking, packed lunches, snacks, water, insurance and photos.

Relax, everything is taken care of.
