Crossing Gerês Mountain (Hiking)

Cross the entire Gerês mountains hiking through shepherds’, smugglers’ and pilgrims’ trails on an unforgettable experience in this harsh territory.

We tailored this mountain crossing to allow you to discover the most remote areas in Gerês’ amazing geodiversity, as well as to increase your chances of wildlife encounters. You’ll reach peaks and explore riverside paths, while observing the variety of landscapes of eastern Peneda-Gerês National Park.

You’ll be accompanied at all times by an experienced guide, who will share his knowledge on the area, as well as guarantee a safe and relaxed hike, and ensure that you enjoy the most of this wonderfull UNESCO’s Biosfere Reserve.

A second guide will always be close by and will also make sure you get to the starting point of your hike and are transported back to your accommodation at the end of each stage.

Explore the entire Gerês mountains during 3 days and 40 km (25 mi) on a fulfilling adventure in these wild, dramatic landscapes.

Stage by Stage

You can choose to do this crossing at your own pace. Freely choose 1 or more stages, according to your availability, fitness level and interests. For example: you can choose 4 stages in a row or every other day; 3 Saturdays in a row; a few stages this month and some the next month, or even next year... you decide.

Each stage is a full-day tour on its own, meaning it always includes guides, pick-up and drop-off in Braga or around the area you will be hiking, packed lunches, snacks, water, insurance and photos.

Relax, everything is taken care of.
